CASEing Coast to Coast!

Welcome to my first post of CASEing Coast to Coast! I’m Karen Hallam from California. I’ve teamed up with Rosanne Mulhern from Pennsylvania to bring you our individual takes on a card.

CASE stands for “Copy and Share Everything” or some people say “Copy and Selectively Edit.” Either way, when you CASE a card you might take inspiration from the stamp set(s) a person used, or the color scheme, or the layout of the design. You might creatively turn a card layout on its side or upside down and design your card from a different perspective.

For today’s card, I’ve chosen two Autumn stamp sets: Country Home and Painted Harvest:

Inspiration From Nature

I love the colors of Autumn and these sunflowers with their deep yellows and golds make me happy. These sunflowers on my dining room table were my inspiration for the card.

Techniques and Tidbits

To make my card, I masked off a section across the middle of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I randomly stamped the large sunflower using So Saffron and Crushed Curry ink pads. I used a second generation (stamped off once) application of Soft Suede ink for the centers of the flowers. Here is the Painted Harvest Stamp Set:

To make the milk can, I stamped the image with Gray Granite ink onto Gray Granite Cardstock and hand cut it out. I popped it up over a piece of doily using Dimensionals. I colored the doily with my Soft Suede Blend Marker. Then I stamped the floral image with Early Espresso ink and colored it with my Blends. I did a quick trim with my scissors and glued it under and above the can.

Finishing Touches

To add a little more Cajun Craze to the card, I used my Stampin’ Write Marker to add clusters of three tiny dots between the sunflowers. It’s subtle but adds a little more color interest.

Wink of Stella on the milk can gives it a light bit of sparkle and shine.
