Inlaid Color (for CSF936)

Greetings! It’s a new month and we have a new banner for Create with Stamping Friends! Fall is in the air! This week we have a color challenge and these colors are so “Autumn.” I decided to go with inlaid color with these three + the warm neutral of Very Vanilla.

Fragrant Layers is the perfect die set for inlaid color. Just crop the rectangular image out four times, once in Very Vanilla, once in Cajun Craze, once in Crisp Cantaloupe, and once in Timid Tiger. Then you start piecing it together. The trick is to keep the cut-outs intact until you’re ready to place them in the design, so you don’t lose your place!!!

Fragrant Layers Dies, #167154, Last Chance, marked down to $33.30

Steps to Success:

• Start with a base of Cajun Craze, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″.
• Crop out the rectangle design from Fragrant Layers Dies in Very Vanilla Cardstock, 3″x 4-1/4″ and glue the outline to the middle of the card base. Inlay the insides of the leaves by gluing them into place like a puzzle.
• Crop another of the same design in Timid Tiger and inlay the large flowers pieces.
• Then crop one from Crisp Cantaloupe and inlay the small flower pieces.
• Last, crop out just the flower centers from Cajun Craze and glue those in place.
• Create a “frame” with Crisp Cantaloupe by cutting a rectangle measuring 3-1/4″x 4-1/2″, then cutting out another rectangle from the middle measuring 2-3/4″x 4″. If you have layering rectangle dies, this is easy. If you don’t, you can use your Paper Trimmer to cut the inside rectangle.
• Stamp a sentiment on Very Vanilla using Cajun Craze ink and cut to 2-1/2″x 3/8″. Flag the right end and attach with Mini Dimensionals.
• Add a Crisp Cantaloupe bow and some Crisp Cantaloupe butterflies.

Beautiful! I love this technique. The die set is on Last Chance. I noticed that the stamp set is already sold out, but you don’t need the stamps to enjoy using these dies. And they are marked down to $33.30. Get them while you can!
