Babies, and Lions, and Presents, Oh My!

I have another baby shower to go to! Suddenly all my friends are becoming grandparents and it’s so exciting! For this one, I used A Little Wild, in gender neutral colors as we don’t know yet if it’s a girl or a boy.

a little wild, little loves framelits, congrats, baby shower card idea, stampin up, karen hallam, stampinup

The nursery theme is jungle animals (guessing it’s a boy, but you never know!) so this little lion seemed perfect for the card.

The layers are Granny Apple Green, Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight. I created a stitched edging around the yellow layer with my Stitched Shapes Framelits, then I added another “frame” in G.A. Green with the fun new Swirly Frames Stamp Set. I doubled up the congrats thinlit die from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, using Basic Black and Mango Melody.

For the sweet little lion, I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, then colored him with Mango and Calypso Blends.

For the inside I used a blast from the past with one of my favorite sentiments and birdie from Made With Love. Some sets will be with me for the long haul! Do you have any favorites that you’ll never part with? I bet you do! 😉

The card goes pretty nicely with this gift bag I found! Their invitation was much the same. Cute, cute, cute!

Have a great weekend! Go A’s! Huh, I just realized that my card colors happen to match my favorite baseball team (coincidence? maybe…) What are you all doing this weekend?

  1. I love your card! How did you stitch a rectangle out of a square stitch framelit?

    • It’s a little tricky, IlaRae. When you put the top cutting plate down over the Stitched Square Framelit, only place it over the three sides of the die, leaving the bottom line uncovered. Run it through, then turn it over and place the die where you want it to create your rectangle. Again, only place the top cutting plate over the parts that you want to cut. Whatever is outside that top cutting plate will not cut. I hope that makes sense! Hopefully Stampin’ Up! will come out with Stitched Rectangles in the next catalog! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

  2. Such an adorable card! I send my grandkids happy mail all the time and I’ll have to adapt this design for my next go-round. And I have to remember to use the swirly frames more often–it really sets off an image. TFS!
    Have a great weekend

  3. Yes Karen, cute, cute, cute. I love when everything comes together.
Have a blessed day and weekend.
