Dashing All The Way

I used the Dashing Deer bundle to create today’s card ~

This bundle stood out to me right from the beginning as one I absolutely had to have! I’m so glad I made the purchase. It will stay in my collection forever! Here is the whole bundle ~ it comes in Wood-Mount and Clear-mount ~

Dashing Deer Bundle, Clear Mount #149935 and Wood-Mount #149934

There is so much to it, and I’ve only made this one card, so I am looking forward to lots of crafting time with it!

I took the layout idea from Linda Heller. She made a Merry Merlot/Copper Foil card that I CASEd and loved, so I thought I’d try it with some different paper and framelits.  Here is the card I CASEd (mine is slightly different than Linda’s but the paper and layout are the same.)

Timeless Tidings and Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Sets, Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper, Seasonal Layers snowflake dies

For the deer card, I used Under The Mistletoe DSP (Annual Catalog), layered over Old Olive, Whisper White, and Shaded Spruce cardstock. The DSP squares are 2″ x 2″ and the overall card measures 5″ x 5″.

I wrapped Shaded Spruce ribbon (from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack) around the inner layers and tied a bow. Dasher is popped up with Mini Dimensionals, as is the sentiment from Dashing Deer. Here’s a closer look at the Gold Foil deer ~ isn’t he majestic?

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the same set, added a strip of coordinating DSP at the bottom, and a tiny version of the Gold Foil Dasher to the lower left corner. We’ll call him “Mini D!”

Here is one more look at it. I found this small easel in my cupboard, and thought it might be a good prop for my card.

One last mention…this card needs a special envelope. I used my Envelope Punch Board to create a perfectly-sized envelope for my 5 x 5 card. You can buy 5 x 7 envelopes at the store that will work, but this is so much more to my liking!

  1. Love, Love, Love this card. I knew I had to have this set also when it came out. Thank you for the grand idea for the inside. I always do a “little” something, but Little D is sweet. Thank you again.

Karen, as always your cards are stunning! I love “Mini D” on the inside! Great touch! I hope you don’t mind if I CASE this.

  3. Fun and bright card. I just had to have that bundle but only have used it once. My plates are really scarred and when I ran the deer through it came out with a fun texture. I need to play some more with this set. Love how you placed the sentiment between the legs like it is walking on it. Ummm, that sounded weird. That ribbon is so pretty. I think I need some of it too. The inside is such a treat just like cream cheese frosting on my favorite carrot cake. Love this card.

  4. Wow such pretty cards Karen. The DSP is very pretty and I didn’t look that closely at it. I love it. I also like the inside . . . must remember to pay attention to my insides.
    Have a blessed day.
    🙂

  5. This is such a pretty holiday card, Karen. You’ve inspired me to start creating with this bundle…and I agree about it being one to hang onto. Have a wonderful day!
