2 Cards for the Price of One!

I had a lot of fun building this card from the clues Jeanie gave us in her Monday Mystery Stamping this week! With something in mind, I got out my Valley in Bloom DSP and chose a few different sheets to highlight on this card. I enjoyed working with it so much, I couldn’t stop! After making this card and sending it off to Jeanie for her Sunday blog post, I made a second card that you’ll see below. Two cards for the price of one!! 😍

Here’s my fun fold card:

Jeanie gives us the measurements beforehand to cut our cardstock and Designer Paper. We follow her steps and find out what it should look like in the end. That can be intimidating at first. I like to practice one on old paper that I’m not “married” to anymore (know what I mean?) This time I had a pretty good idea of where she was going with it, so I jumped right in with my Lily paper.

The fun fold is one the inside, and you get this great pop-out band that folds flat when you close it. I have to admit, I went a little rogue with this one! Her directions called for 4 more pieces of cardstock and DSP to be attached to the folded strip. But I got so excited about matching up the DSP on the insets to the background that I totally overlooked that step! Good thing Jeanie always says, “There’s no wrong way to do Mystery Stamping!”

Here’s a close-up of the right side on the inside:

Here’s a look at it standing up:

The front decoration is left up to the individual creator. Her instructions just say to decorate as desired.

This is what I did:

  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock for the base and folded inside strip
  • Valley in Bloom DSP, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Basic White Cardstock, 4″x 2-3/4″
  • Vellum paper, 3-1/2″ scalloped circle, cropped with Scalloped Blooms Die
  • Lily leaves from Lily of the Valley Bundle cropped from DSP
  • Flower stem cropped from DSP, then again with Fresh Freesia Cardstock
    • I cut the Freesia petals from the stem and glued them over the green ones that were cut from the DSP.
    • The flowers have a touch of Light Fresh Freesia Blend colored on them.
  • Sentence strip, Basic White, stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink, 3″x 1/2″

The cutting and assembling directions can be found on Jeanie’s blog post by clicking HERE.

OK, ready for another? This is a much simpler card, but I love this DSP so I’ll be enjoying every little bit of it!

Granny Apple Green has a POW to it, doesn’t it? It actually isn’t quite as neon as this picture suggests, but it is a pretty bright green.

Recipe:
  • Granny Apple Green base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Granny Apple Green panel, 5″x 3-3/4″, embossed with Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder
  • Valley in Bloom DSP, three circles cut from Spotlight on Nature Dies, 2-3/4″ circle from solid green, 2-1/4″ circle from diamond motif, 2-1/8″ from lily of the valley print
  • Flower stem, Lily of the Valley, cropped from Lily dies with the solid green DSP, then again with Basic White Cardstock, clipped and glued as above
    • A touch of color from the Light Fresh Freesia Blend mimics the flowers in the paper, but I also went over it with the Color Lifter to lighten it up quite a bit.
  • Sentiment from Lily of the Valley, Granny Apple Green ink onto Basic White and cut to 2-3/8″x 1/2″
  • Shimmering Dots embellishments in green
