Pressed Petals for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ July  Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects that are “Mixing It Up” –  adding texture that will really take your projects up a notch – or two! You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Pressed Petals DSP, Corrugated Embossing Folder, Itty Bitty Greetings, Pressed Petals Washi Tape, hello card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

I love adding texture to my cards! It adds so much visual interest and it truly makes the difference between handmade and Hallmark! But adding texture doesn’t mean it has to be difficult to construct. This card was easy-peasy with the help of some beautiful Stampin’ Up! products.

I started with a base card of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. To that I added a Crumb Cake layer that I ran through my Big Shot with the Corrugated Embossing Folder. Next a 4-3/8″ x 3-1/2″ layer of Very Vanilla.

The top layer of my card is the impressive piece. It was the easiest of all because it is a pre-printed sheet of Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper! Four sheets in this pack of gorgeous papers have several card cuts of pretty designs you simply cut out and glue onto your project. Take a look ~

I used the piece in the middle.

The final embellishment on the card is a flower created with Washi Tape. This is the coolest “tape” I’ve ever seen! Pull the little individual petals off and arrange them around a small circle of cardstock to create a flower. A coordinating Designer Element sticks in the center and the whole thing is glued down on the card. Beautiful!

Karen, what an awesome mixed of texture! I love your purple washi flower 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

  6. Karen, this is such a pretty card. I love how you incorporated the card cut with your gorgeous washi flower. What a smart and easy way to create more interest.

  7. Yes, Jackie, you do need this Washi. It’s really fun! Thanks!

  8. Chris from Pella

Another fun card. Love all the texture. I want to play with that washi tape, it looks so cool and fun to use. Any tricks in using it? Love the card.

    • Thanks, Chris! The only trick I can think to give you is to punch out a small circle, like 3/4″, to stick the petals onto. 6 petals makes a nice flower. Then pat the back that still has stick on it with the Embossing Buddy to take that stick off. Secure it with glue or Dimensional on the back of the 3/4″ circle. Easy!

  9. Jill Pehle-Killeen

Karen, your cards are just awesome! This one especially!

  10. I love everything about this beautiful card! I definitely need that Washi tape to give this a try!
