Waterfront for Masculine Monday

Welcome to my Monday blog post! It’s Masculine Monday during the month of July. Today I’ve created a Waterfront scene for my brother’s birthday card.

He lives in the Minneapolis area, but owns a cabin in the northern part of Minnesota (I think they all do! ;-)) Every time I visit, we go there to spend a few days to relax and play in/on the water. This foresty Waterfront stamp set puts me right back in that beautiful part of the state!

His birthday is coming up, so I thought I’d try to recreate this peaceful scene!

To stamp the Waterfront scene, I used Pretty Peacock, Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce, and So Saffron ink pads. Then to the water, I added a little sparkle with some glittery embossing powder.

I cut out a Shaded Spruce DSP frame using Stitched Rectangle Dies and glued it to a cut piece of Shaded Spruce card stock for stability. Next I lifted the frame up off with strips of Dimensional edges. You know – the piece that you’re left with after all of the Dimensional hexagons have been used.

To finish, I took the sentiment from (retired) Lemon Zest and stamped it with Shaded Spruce ink. Then I punched it out using the Everyday Label Punch and trimmed it down to create a narrow label.

On the inside, I used the Everyday Label Punch again, to house a favorite stamp sentiment that I’ve had forever, ©Dina Kowel, dkdesigns. I just love the message! That strip of designer paper is from Heidi Swapp. I thought the watercolor trees complimented the trees on the front of the card quite nicely!

Have a great week! On Wednesday we will be having our monthly Pals Blog Hop, so be sure to pop in on Wednesday and get lots of great ideas and inspiration. See you back here then!
