Poinsettias for CASEing Coast to Coast

Welcome to our monthly posting we call CASEing Coast to Coast! Last month, I CASEd Rosanne’s beautiful floral framed card (see it HERE). This month she will CASE my design, and I’ve chosen to show poinsettias from the Poinsettia Petals Bundle.

I know it’s early for a Christmas card, really! But our Aug-Dec Mini Catalog came out this month, and I was eager to play with this poinsettia bundle! The embossing detail on the petals and leaves puts it over the top! Here’s a look at the whole suite.

I’ve used the stamps, dies, and DSP in this card. But you can see there are so many more products to create beautiful cards with!

Make This Card
  • Begin with a base of Soft Suede Cardstock, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4.”
  • Cut 1/4″ strips of BumbleBee Cardstock and glue to the sides of the woodgrain print DSP 5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″.
  • Cut/emboss 3 Real Red poinsettia petals using Poinsettia Dies. Stack and layer them together with Mini Dimensionals.
  • Cut a BumbleBee center using the dies. Glue to the center of the flower. Keep the dots that fall out!
  • Cut/emboss four Garden Green leaves using the dies. Arrange and glue under the flower.
  • Cut/emboss three Old Olive leaves using the same dies. Arrange and glue under the flower.
  • Cut three red and three Gold Foil sprigs, again with the same dies. Arrange and glue under the flower.
  • Stamp sentiment using Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock (I used the thick cardstock for more stability) and crop out with Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Adhere with Dimensionals.
  • Add three Holiday Rhinestone to the label.

For more poinsettia fun on the inside, cut two tiny flowers (they come out embossed, too!) and add the tiny dots that fell out of the center piece on the main flower. I also added some green ones after looking at photos of the real thing. Stamp a Christmas or holiday greeting with Soft Suede. Last step = the envelope. This DSP is from the suite as well. So pretty!

  1. Can’t wait to CASE your beautiful card and use it for someone special at Christmas. You did a fabulous job, Karen, like always.

  2. Karen this is stunning. The layers and texture are perfection.

Of course I love this card. The poinsettia inside was so fun. Love the envelope. I am not adding DSP to all my envelopes as they stand out in the mail. Then, as the mail people are looking at it the postmaster or the flunkies decided it felt a little heavier or thicker hence they didn’t send it on. My mail lady grabbed it and stuck an extra stamp on it and quickly stuck it in with the mail to go to Des Moines for posting. My mail lady told me about it the next day!

Fresh, I think the postal service has enough going on without worrying about my mail.

    • I typically put a 70 cent stamp on cards like this, Chris, as I know they are a little thicker/heavier. And that also pays for a hand cancel instead of the machine – more protection for the handmade card.

  4. Karen, I loved CASEing your card. There was just so much inspiration in your card. The layout is terrific and the beautiful poinsettia steals the show!
