Magic in this Night

I’m working with part of the Magic in this Night Suite today, bringing you a Halloween card. I don’t make a lot of Halloween cards, so I didn’t purchase the stamp set or dies that come in this suite. Instead, I used a stamp set that I purchased last year and integrated it with the dark and spooky Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper. If you love all things Halloween, you will want this year’s bundle with the lacy bats and spooky spiders!

See the black bats in the paper? You almost have to train your eye to see them as it’s a bit of an optical illusion print to my eyes! Here is the whole pack of paper.

I used Blackberry Bliss for the card base and started layering with a 5″x 3-3/4″ piece of the Black Glitter Paper. Then I put the batty piece of DSP over the top. Sneaky Paper Saving Tip: I cropped the Glitter Paper with Stitched Rectangle Dies and popped out the center to save for another project! And you can easily see in the picture below, I used the same dies to cut the DSP.

Design Details

The moon and sentiment, as well as the inside stamps, are from (retired) Spooky Sweets. I found some embossing powders in my cupboard that I thought worked well ~ a pearl satin for the moon and black glitter for the sentiment. There is a lot of sparkle/glitter going on here!

But what really puts it over the top (IMHO) is that bow! The 1-1/2″ Metallic Mesh Ribbon that is part of this suite is awesome! It is wonderfully soft and has a subtle sparkly shine to it. It’s not like anything I’ve seen before. I’m looking forward to using this on lots of holiday projects.

My inside layer is Smoky Slate. To brighten up this dark card (she says with firm tongue in cheek!) I layered the back flap of the Vanilla envelope with a different print from the pack. It has the Blackberry Bliss and other colors in it that add some fun.

Check out the whole suite on pages 52-54 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. There are samples of some treat holders that are perfect for this holiday.

  1. Love this card! Perfect design choices. I didn’t get the stamp set either—similar reasons as yours— but that paper…! That ribbon…! To die for. I could have 400 sheets of other DSP on hand (Well? So what if I do?? 😉) but this pack is a must have.
