Healing Hugs Get Well Card

I have some get well cards to share with you today. I never have enough of these on hand, so I made a few different ones to keep in my stash, using the stamp set called Healing Hugs. The flowers and leaves are Stampin’ Up!’s DistINKtive® stamps which are cut to look 3D when you stamp them ~ just gorgeous!

I was inspired by Demonstrator, Eimear Carvill, to make this first card. Hers had a more masculine feel in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso. I decided to go more feminine with Flirty Flamingo and Basic Gray.

Healing Hugs #146527 for Wood-Mount, #146530 for Clear-Mount

To create the angle that I wanted on the striped paper, I first cut it at 5-1/4″ x 4″, then I measured up 1-3/4″ from the bottom right corner and down from the top left corner. Small little pencil marks gave me the guide to cut with my Stampin’ Trimmer. That gave me two identical pieces for two cards.

A 1/2″ strip of the same DSP, flipped over to the polka dot side gave me a seam-hider (I don’t like to leave bare seams. Yes, I’m funny that way!)

Tip: When stamping with these DistINKtive stamps, you need a stamp pad that isn’t too juicy but also not too dry. I recommend practicing on scrap paper first to see if you have the correct coverage.

On the inside, I stamped off twice with the flower stamp before putting it on my cardstock. Even after stamping off twice, there is still good coverage on the paper, but it’s light enough to let the message come through.

Here are two other cards I made using the same stamp set, but using up some of my retired Sweet Soiree DSP ~

These are 4-1/4″ square cards that will fit nicely into a regular envelope for mailing. Another tip I have for you when mailing these smaller cards – Put a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of lightweight cardboard or heavy paper into the envelope with your card. That will keep the PO machine from messing up your beautiful creation!

That’s it for today! I’m off to spend the day babysitting my two adorable grandsons. I promised the 4-year-old that we would paint the Very Hungry Caterpillar today, so I’m in for a messy good time with him today!

Coming up on Friday, I have a very SPARKLY birthday card to share with you. I hope you will stop back by to see that.
