Dinoroar x 2

I have two cards for you today, using the Dinoroar and See A Silhouette Designer Series Papers from Stampin’ Up! The first one is a design that I got from the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge #332.

Here is the banner with the sketch to CASE.

I had a lot of fun deciding what to do for this sketch. I ended up cutting a dinosaur from the designer series paper and gluing it to a Poppy Parade circle, the largest in the Layering Circles Dies. The strip behind Mr. T is also from the DSP. I hand cut a strip of two hexagon widths of paper from See A Silhouette DSP and glued it to the front panel of Daffodil Delight.

“Smile” is part of a die set from WPlus9. I cut three of the smiles out using Mossy Meadow and one with Whisper White. Then I stacked them, glued them together with the white on top for a nice dimensional greeting. I covered the top layer with Wink of Stella to add a touch of sparkle.

I had this half strip left over from the paper after cutting the front strip, so I thought I’s use it on the inside. Why not?

The final touch was Old Olive Glitter Dots in the three sizes. I think this card is so much fun! Mr. T is smiling and I like the funky font and the way you can see the green layers under the white when you angle it.

Card #2

I liked it so much that I made a second card with some pieces that I didn’t end up using on the first card.

I feel very Jurassic Park-ish with these cards. Or maybe more Dinosaur Train!! My son (who is grown with his own sons now) loved everything about dinosaurs when he was in kindergarten. I remember him getting an award for knowing the most dinosaur facts on the last day of school 🙂 Gotta love kindergarten! Now his oldest son is going into kindergarten. I’m not sure he has quite the passion his dad had, but he does enjoy learning the names and fun facts about them.

For this card, I cut around the images I wanted from the DSP then glued that image to white cardstock. After that I cut out the dinosaurs with my Paper Snips. The extra layer gave them more stability as I knew I wanted to fold out the wings on the Pteranodon. The same See A Silhouette DSP worked well with a Blueberry Bushel base card. I offset the white “hello” just a little to show more blue from behind. I actually stacked this word on top of Craft Fun Foam for height. It worked pretty well!

Of course I put a little Wink of Stella on the dinosaurs this time, just so it shimmers when the light hits it right.

  1. Sharon Aylesworth

Karen, what die set is “smile: from? It said WPlus9. What set is that and is it new?

    • Sharon, thanks for asking. It isn’t a Stampin’ Up! product, but manufactured by WPlus9. Sometimes I don’t have the perfect SU set, so I fall back on my “contraband” stash, which is what I did here.

  2. Your newsletter you sent out on Thursday only came through with your home address (I assume) – no newsletter.

    • Thanks, Linda! I’m trying a new email server and I haven’t quite figured out all the details yet, clearly! But I am trying to get it working correctly. Thanks for letting me know!

  3. Just love both of these cards and so would my GS!

  4. Fabulous cards! Love those strips of DSP inside the cards, too. Thanks for the inspiration!
