Poinsettias for CASEing Coast to Coast

It’s November and we are using Poinsettias for CASEing Coast to Coast! If you are new to my blog, Rosanne Mulhern and I take turns creating a card for the other to CASE (copy and selectively edit). She lives on the East Coast, Pennsylvania, and I’m on the West Coast, California. This month is Rosanne’s turn to create, and my turn to CASE. Here’s her card:

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I decided to CASE it pretty closely, using different colors. I like her layout very much. And I also have been wanting to try a poinsettia using the Red Velvet Paper, so here is my card:

  • Thick Whisper White card base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
  • Basic Black Cardstock layer, 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • ‘Tis the Season 6″x 6″ DSP plaid layer, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
  • Shaded Spruce center layer, 3-5/8″x 1-5/8″

The Poinsettia:
  • Red Velvet Paper poinsettia petals cut with Poinsettia Dies
  • Shaded Spruce leaves cut with Poinsettia Dies
  • Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper sprigs cut with Poinsettia Dies
  • Pearl Basic Jewels for the poinsettia center

Tips & Techniques:
  • Slightly “curl” each Poinsettia petal with a swipe of your Bone Folder – just enough to round the petals a tiny amount.
  • To best glue the velvet poinsettia petals together, I used a Black Dimensional between the largest two petals and Glue Dots for the smaller layers.
  • Place Multipurpose Liquid Glue just in the center back of the largest petal to give myself lots of room to tuck the leaves and sprigs.

I picked my sentiment from a pre-stamped set of Christmas sentiments by CZ Designs (non-SU). I like the skinny black strip that pulls out the narrow black stripe in the plaid and my outer black layer.

Thanks for joining us today in our CASEing fun! You can read more about Rosanne’s beautiful card by clicking here.

Here is look at another card I made using these beautiful Poinsettia Dies in a previous CASEing C2C.

I will be back on Friday with a unique and special card that I made for my daughter. Come back and see what I made! 🙂 In fact, sign up to follow me and never miss a post! The sign-up form is in the upper right corner beneath my picture.

If you would like to purchase any of the supplies I used on today’s card, they are listed below and linked to my online store. Just click and shop! And when you do, please enter my Host Code: GY3TDPN2 (for November) or the current code for a later purchase. Thank you!

P.S. I didn’t mention the envelope above, but in case you’re wondering, I used the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set to stamp in the lower left corner with Real Red and Shaded Spruce.
