It’s a Birthday in the Zoo!

It’s a birthday in the zoo at my grandson’s house! 😆 The middle boy in a family of 3 boys is having his birthday, and I think Zoo Crew is perfect for his party! We have balloons, juggling cupcakes, confetti and birthday blowers, plus an armadillo delivering the birthday present! Three-ring circus? or zany zoo? Either way, it’s tons of fun!

To start off, I cut several strips of cardstock in different colors and widths. Going for the colors in the balloons, I cut Lemon Lime Twist, Bubble Bath, Pool Party, and Lemon Lolly. Now that’s it’s done, I can see that the pink should have been Petal Pink, but oh well – next time!

I glued the strips down to a panel of Basic White, 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″, then went back and trimmed the sides to create a panel that measures about 5-1/4″x 4″. This I adhered to a base of Basic Black.

The critters are from Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper, one of our new DSP packs available on May 2. I cropped each out with Layering Circles Dies (retiring next week!) and cut the coordinating scalloped circles to glue behind each. The envelope flap has Lemon Lolly stars from Bright and Beautiful DSP (available May 2). The front of the envelope has the armadillo, fussy-cut and glued down.

On the inside I fussy-cut the elephant from Zoo Crew and glued him down. He’s wishing Max a Happy Birthday – sentiment from Peaceful Moments inside a Conversation Bubble (both sets retiring).

For the front sentiment I heat embossed white on Basic Black Cardstock. It’s from A Grand Kid, sorry, sold out. The three adhesive stars were some from my stash.

Looks like fun, doesn’t it? He is an amazing grandson and I’m sure he’ll have a crazy fun birthday! Happy Birthday, Max!

  1. Zoo Crew was one of my first choices to get, and not JUST for the grand kids! Great card; big smiles are inevitable.

  2. How much fun is this card!? Max will love it and I do, too! I actually just started cutting out all the fun “characters” in the DSP, so hopefully I’ll have a card ready for a grandson birthday in June!
