CASEing the Catty

There are some beautiful examples to copy from the 2019 Holiday Catalog! I was quite taken with the card on page 30 that uses the Brightly Gleaming suite of products. I don’t have everything that they used to make their card, but that’s OK! CASEing doesn’t mean exactly copying, although you could. So as I often do, I changed it up a bit to use what I have. Here is my version.

Christmas Gleaming Bundle, Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP, Tin Tile Embossing Folder, Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements, Star Designer Elements, Christmas card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

Here is the picture of the card in the catalog.

As you can see, I went vertical with the stripes and used the Tin Tile Embossing Folder instead of the Hammered Metal. Otherwise, pretty close!

Christmas Gleaming Bundle, Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP, Tin Tile Embossing Folder, Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements, Star Designer Elements, Christmas card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

Measurements:

Night Of Navy Cardstock – 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″

Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP – 5-1/4″x 4″

Vellum Cardstock -4-1/2″x 3-1/4″

Directions:

I punched three long ornaments with the Gleaming Ornaments Punch. Then I embossed the Copper Foil one with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder (always cut before embossing, so you don’t flatten out your embossing!)

After that, I stamped “Deck the Halls” with Navy ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and punched it out with the smaller ornament punch.

The greenery is part of the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements! Did you figure that out? I turned three sprigs over and colored them with my Old Olive Blend Marker. The Star Designer Elements are really nice, too!

Once I figured out all the parts and pieces, this card went together very quickly. If you have enjoyed this card, you can order the products for yourself and make a bunch! Click here to see the whole suite of products for Brightly Gleaming and purchase what you’d like.

  1. Actually, I like your version much better. It is an immediate improvement just turning the stripes to the vertical position, a much better way to display the ornaments than the horizontal way. Were the two ornaments you didn’t emboss stamped on the Gleaming paper? I initially didn’t go for this stamp suite, but found myself liking it the more people shared their versions of cards. Thanks for sharing, Karen.

    • Thanks, Yvonne! The two ornaments were punched from the Brightly Gleaming DSP, so super simple. I’m really happy I bought the set.

  2. Yep, I like yours better too. The stripes look much better vertical. Did they use the Night of Navy? Yours just seems brighter or something more dramatic. Plus, I like the tin tile email or using folder a lot better than the hammered tin looking one. Well done!

I’m not sure if they used Night of Navy. It does look a lot lighter, but it could be the lighting, too. Thank you so much, Chris. BTW, be sure to check my post tomorrow morning 🙂

  3. Love your CASE~in fact, I think it’s a vast improvement to have the stripes be vertical, and the tin tile EF is a perfect choice with your papers. What a great card!
