Beauty of the Earth Thank You

I recently read a lively debate on the internet about whether we should call card designs “masculine” or “feminine.” I found the topic rather silly, actually. My feeling is, make a card you think will make the receiver and the giver happy and who cares about the gender reference?! That being said, if I were going to genderfy this card, I would say masculine, and here’s why. My husband asked me to make it. He likes plain and simple – no fluff ‘n stuff – and the dark, rich colors of this paper are right up his alley. Here is my Beauty of the Earth Thank You card.

Super simple, just like he asked for. The Beauty of the Earth DSP is so rich and pretty (handsome?) that it doesn’t need a bunch of adornment. However, if it weren’t for his request, I was thinking a stamped and cut tree along the side would please me! Something along these lines. Too much for him? Perhaps.

I started with a Mossy Meadow base, added a 5″x 3-3/4″ layer of Bumblebee. To that I glued a 4-7/8″x 3-5/8″ piece of Beauty of the Earth. Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim anchors the label, punched from a retired label punch (any of ours would work) and the Double Oval Punch.

I really pushed the envelope (pun intended) by decorating the back flap, but I do think it adds a fun detail to the outside! Still not frilly! 🙂

  1. Is your measurement for the DSP correct? I get 4 7/8 by 3 5/8

    • You are absolutely correct, Claudia, Thank you for catching that! It should be 4-7/8″x 3-5/8″. I’ll edit the post right now. I appreciate it!
