Splash & Relax Pool Toys

Here we are, our last Thursday in May! Summer weather has officially hit the Sacramento Valley. We’ve seen temps up in the 90’s already. It’s definitely pool time! For Create with Stamping Friends this week, we have a color challenge. The minute I saw these colors, I knew I wanted to use the Splash & Relax pool toys stamps ~ the inner tubes and beach balls.

Here’s our challenge:

And here’s my card:

I want to thank Laura Rodrick for her inspiration on this card. I stumbled upon her You Tube video while I was looking for some guidance on using these stamps. Her design is so cute! I’ve modified it a bit to line up with our challenge colors and what I had on hand.

Here’s what I used:
  • Basic White Thick Cardstock, 11″x 4-1/4″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
  • Waterside Retreat DSP for the water, 5-1/4″s 4″, then cropped with the largest Deckled Rectangle die
  • Basic White Cardstock for the pool toys
    • Splash & Relax stamps in Daffodil Delight, Hydrangea Hue, and Poppy Parade
      • On the inner tubes, I stamped off once for the lighter shade, then full strength ink for the darker stripes.
      • For the beach balls, I stamped one color on white, then die cut with the matching circle die.
  • Basic White for the sentiment
    • Splash & Relax sentiment, stamped in Hydrangea Hue
    • Cropped with the smallest Deckled Rectangle die, modified to make it shorter
  • Shimmering Dots for embellishment

On the inside I stamped the sentiment with Poppy Parade and one more beach ball with Hydrangea Hue. I cropped the ball with the circle die and added a Shimmering Dot to the center.

This is definitely a “fun in the sun” card! I hope you like it!
