Here’s a fun, simple card that I made entirely from scraps! It’s so nice to use up some left over bits of paper! Let me tell you how easy this is.
Card Details
- Decide which Designer Series Paper you want to use. I had a 2″x 4-1/2″ piece of Sweet Talk left over from another card project.
- Pick a base color. I chose Real Red, 5-1/2″x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″.
- Add a different color layer, preferably one that matches something in the DSP. I picked Blushing Bride, 3-3/4″x 5″.
- A 4-3/4″ length of ribbon will go across the width of the layer. This 1/2″ Highland Heather Ribbon not only picks up a third color in the DSP, it has a pretty sparkle to it!
Directions
- Wrap and glue the ribbon across the Blushing Bride layer.
- Glue the Blushing Bride to the Real Red card base.
- Next glue the DSP to the Blushing Bride layer (over the ribbon) on the left.
- Cut a scrap piece of Basic White Cardstock to 1-1/2″x 3-1/4″. Stamp as desired. I picked a retired stamp set called Arrange a Wreath and stamped the sentiment in Real Red. Add Dimensionals to the back and overlap the DSP slightly, leaving equal space of Blushing Bride showing on both the left and right.
- To embellish, I picked a heart from another scrap of Sweet Talk and cut it out with my scissors. Then I glued the right side to the white cardstock and secured the left with a Dimensional. What you can’t see is that same red dotted heart is under my cut one on the DSP layer.
- I found an old heart punch that looks amazingly similar to one of the printed hearts on the paper and punched it from a scrap of red. A single Red Rhinestone in that small punched heart is the final touch.
What do you think? I think it turned out pretty cute for a “scrap” card! You can do this layout with any leftover paper you have that you would like to use up!
Give it a try – play with it – and have fun! Who says adults can’t play?! Happy Heart Day!

So do I, Hope! I can’t throw them away as “There must be something I can do with this cute little piece!”
Love cards that have different ideas on using sraps. I always have mountains of them,
