Peaceful Poppies Valentine

Peaceful Poppies has very vibrant colors. They are so pretty! I was looking at the different prints and this one caught my eye as a good one for a valentine card. And the design process began…

Let’s look at the DSP first, then I’ll tell you about my card.

Beautiful, isn’t it?! The piece I used is rather hidden in this picture. It’s the fourth one from the left. To get even a better look at each of these sheets, click HERE to see a short video. You can see other cards I’ve created with this DSP by clicking HERE and HERE.

More about my card…

I started with a base of Thick Whisper White. I used DSP for the front layer. On the back of one of these sheets is a semi-solid Poppy Parade that has enough variation in color to make it really interesting. I cut the large scalloped heart from the Stitched Be Mine Dies out of the middle. Then I glued it over the flowered print, and adhered both pieces to the base.

When you cut the large heart out, it also gives you this lovely stitched scalloped border that is detached from the main heart. I cut and stacked four of these borders on top of each other to give dimension and the illusion of a “window.” You can see the dimension in my photo.

“Love you” comes from Enjoy Life Stamp Set. I cut the pink hearts on the left using another of the Stitched Be Mine Dies. The paper is from Pressed Petals Specialty DSP. I filled in some of the hearts with the Fine Tip Glue pen to give them a shiny raised look. And finally, I stuck a Heart Epoxy Droplet to the same pink paper and glued to the corner of my white heart.

So typical of me! I love to find other elements from my craft room that will go together to make a new design. And I think these pieces went together very well! I hope you think so, too! Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think of it.
