CASEing Coast to Coast, February

Welcome to CASEing Coast to Coast, February! This month I’m featuring a stamp from Beautiful You and adding some paper piecing. Here is my card ~

I used Best Dressed 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper to dress the girl and carried it through to the layer behind her.

The Art Part

Paper piecing is fun. It’s a little like dressing paper dolls, a popular activity when I was a girl! To begin, I stamped the image with Versamark Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, then heat embossed it with Black Emboss Powder. I stamped parts of the image again, with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto one of the floral pieces of DSP and onto the striped. Since I wanted the shiny embossed outlines to show, I cut just inside the black lines on the dress and umbrella. I glued those down, then used a Light Petal Pink Blend to color her legs and neck.

The Layering

Pretty Peacock is my base color. I cut the striped DSP to 4-5/8″x 3-1/2″ and added a skinny layer of Whisper White behind it. The center Stitched Scalloped layer is raised up on Dimensionals. I found “hello” in just the right size in Beauty Abounds.

Give paper piecing a try! It adds a fun look to your stamps ~ something different from coloring.
