A Patriotic Theme (for CC2C)

Greetings from the Golden State! And welcome to another edition of Creating Coast to Coast where Rosanne (from the East Coast) and I share a card or project using a pre-determined theme. This month I chose a patriotic theme since we are so close to our country’s 250th birthday 🎆. Happy Birthday, America!

Here’s my card:

Inside:
  • Cardstock: Basic White, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel
  • DSP & foil: Painted Patterns in Brights, Gold Foil Sheets
  • Pop-up Petals Dies for pop-up feature (or cut with scissors)
  • Numbers from Alphabet a la Mode Dies
  • Stars from a variety of old Stampin’ Up! punches and dies
  • Computer generated sentiment in blue on Basic White Cardstock
Techniques:
  • The DSP on the front is a black and white stripe from Paper Medley. I colored the narrow stripes with Blueberry Bushel and Real Red Blends.
  • I threaded the twine through the holes in the banners and taped the ends to the back of the DSP/cardstock layers.
  • The banners are attached with Dimensionals.
  • For the “fireworks” I cut 2/3″ strips of Gold Foil and feathered the ends. Then I glued them to the back of the stars.
  • You can’t see it, but I cut a second large red star and glued it on the back to hide the “mess!”
  • The stars and fireworks are glued to the front of the pop-up feature.
  • Then I glued the “Happy 4th of July” strip down and added some punched foil stars.
