Wood Textures Thank You Card and A Chance To Win!

Something different for me today ~ a thank you card that is a bit more masculine, thanks to Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and the Thank You Thinlit Die.

Any stamping will have to be reserved for the inside of this card, because that Thank You Thinlit is large! Maybe that’s why Stampin’ Up! has bundled it with A Big Thank You Stamp Set (ya think?!) I love it!

To start this card, I covered a Whisper White card base with the light wood textured paper from Floral Romance Specialty DSP. Then I chose a darker piece of Wood Textures 6″ x 6″ DSP and cut a frame with my Stitched Rectangle Framelits. Once I glued that onto the front, I decided it needed a bit of dark contrast, so I cut slivers of Early Espresso and glued them very close to the inside of the frame.

Now, I know what you are probably thinking ~ there is a much easier way to accomplish the same thing! If you cover the card base with the dark paper first  and glue a layered rectangle on top, boom! Easy! I was working this one a bit backwards, so I pieced it together as I went! I do like the stitching around the inside of the dark frame, which you can only get if you do it the way I did!

Texture With Layers

To create some depth, texture, and visual interest, try stacking your sentiment dies with coordinating cardstock. In this one, I used three layers of Early Espresso, cut with the Thank You Thinlit Die, and glued them all together, stacked on top of each other, with liquid glue. Then I offset the Wood Textures die cut Thank You just enough for the dark brown to be visible to the side of each letter. (It’s easier to see the off-set in the next photo.) I adhered the whole thing to the card front with Mini Dimensionals.

A Chance to Win!

I added some of my (hoarded) retired Candy Dots from yesteryear to just give the card a little more pizazz! Speaking of candy….  I have some Blog Candy for one lucky customer!

  1. Great looking card, Karen…you have me reconsidering this die!

  2. Love the wood textures. The “shadowing” really makes the additional dimensional stacking really pop!

  3. Yep, gotta love it no matter if you did it the easier way or not. I do like the stitching on the wood look too, I don’t even know if I have any word dies to try stacking them. Maybe it is time I get the Thank You die and the Happy Birthday die. Then, they will probably go and retire them! Oh well, love your rich looking card!

  4. Karen! I LOVE this card! Elegant and masculine! I feel a case coming on!!!!!
