This card is a work in progress. I feel that it needs some tweaking. But it is glued down for now, so I will work on it and show you the before-and-after next week! This pretty (with a punch of color!) poinsettia paper from Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper caught my eye and I had to try it on a card.
It is one of the six, two-sided, sheets in the pack along with some fun plaids and Christmas colors. Here is the pack. It can be ordered now from the Annual Catalog, page 95.
I paired it with a new bundle called Merry Christmas To All (available Sept. 5), using both the thinlits and one of the stamps.
To tone down the bright paper a bit while letting the sentiment show, I added a panel of Vellum Cardstock, to which I stamped and heat embossed the word Christmas. Then I added a 1/8″ frame of Real Red around it and glued it to the DSP.
The word “Christmas” got a little lost over the busy paper, so I slipped a 1/2″ tag of Whisper White behind it. I tripled up the Merry thinlits for dimension and put a layer of Fine Tip Glue Pen over it to give it a nice shine. For the leaves, I started with Old Olive cardstock, then put Versamark Ink on them and heat embossed some sparkly powder over them. It really changed the color of the leaves, so that is something I will work on.
I’m going to leave it at that for now, but it will be a fun puzzle to work on over the weekend. Come back on Monday to see what it morphs into. It will be as much a surprise to me as it is to you! Ha!

I admit…I am going backwards – it is Monday and when I started to read the post and saw it was part 2…I stopped to come to this!
You are brave to emboss on the vellum – I am always a chicken to do so but then to think of placing the white behind to make it pop…..BRILLIANT!
I adore this paper, it is super strong but there is something just magical about it…..super card – now off to Monday’s card!
