Tropical Oasis

Growing up in Hawaii (our tropical oasis) back in the 60’s was a LOT of fun! This paper is so nostalgic. It wasn’t uncommon to see these “Woodies” driving through Kailua town with a surfboard hanging out the open back window. It was beachy, and hip, and well… cool! And as a teenager who loved to run around barefoot and visit the beach daily, it was pretty amazing.

There isn’t much to share about this card as you can see how simple it is. I cut the Tropical Oasis DSP at 4″x 4″ and the Crumb Cake DSP at 4″x 1-1/4″. The braided trim is fun to fray and pull out wider. It definitely adds to the beachy, flip flop feel. I adhered it to the card with Tear & Tape.

The sentiment on the front is from Beautiful You. This phrase pretty much sums up out we lived in those days! On the inside, I used Thinking of You from Rooted in Nature and added a couple of palm fronds from Tropical Chic.

I stamped the fronds in Granny Apple Green, then daubed on some Garden Green to match the cardstock base color.

The gang’s all here! This was taken in my parents’ backyard. That’s me top row, 2nd from left in the green muumuu. Circa 1968!

I’ll have fun reminiscing every time I pull out this DSP! If you’d like to get some, you can visit my online store and order it here. Don’t forget to check out the other fun products in this suite! There is a stamp set/die bundle, an embossing folder, some cute trinkets, the burlap trim, and more.

  1. Love the story and the card, Karen. P.S. You look great in a Mumu!

  2. Fun to read like Nancy said. Our neighbor’s grandparents had a Woodside but I don’t remember what color. I could not imagine living in Hawaii and I have never been there. So this made for an even more fun card. The braided trim is perfect for this too. Enjoy your memories.
