Stripping the Wood

I used a card sketch by Dawn Griffith to design my card for today. If you are stuck for a design, following a sketch is a great idea! Here is my card~

better together, wood textures dsp, layering ovals, card sketch idea, birthday card idea, stampin up, karen hallam, stampinup

And here is the sketch that I used ~

Wood Textures 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper has several different types and colors of wood to choose from. I separated the pink tones from the yellow tones and cut six 1/4″ x 4-3/4″ strips from the pink-toned sheets.

My base card is Early Espresso and I added a layer of Powder Pink. On top of that I placed a layer of Whisper White that I stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp. You might be surprised to hear that I used Gray Granite for the color on the background stamp! I stamped off twice before adding the color to the paper, giving it a very subtle image. I did the same thing on the Whisper White oval.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from Better Together and I stamped it with Early Espresso. The Layering Ovals Framelits Dies include Espresso, Powder Pink, and Whisper White.

A peek of Powder Pink ribbon and three die-cut Wood Textures hearts give the card a feminine feel.
