So Very Merry

Wow, it’s July 31st! There is a LOT coming up in August at Stampin’ Up! and I’ll try to fill you in on a few things, but first…  I have a Merry Monday card to share! [Side Bar: There used to be a Merry Monday Card Challenge, but I haven’t seen anything since 2018. If anyone knows that someone has started it back up, please send me the link!] I used So Very Merry for my Merry Monday card.

This stamp set is an Online Exclusive. It’s available now (click HERE) but I don’t know how long it will be around. I just received it. And I love it! The graphic stained glass look really appeals to me. So of course the first stamp I grabbed was Santa. But look at all the great images in this set:

SO VERY MERRY PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET (ENGLISH)

Aren’t they fun? It does beg for coloring. For those of you who aren’t fond of coloring, this doesn’t require a lot. And I think the images could be heat embossed and/or watercolored and look great. I used Blends to color mine.

Details:
  • Thick Basic White base, 11″x 4-1/4″, folded at 5-1/2″
  • Old Olive Cardstock layer, 5″x 3-3/4″
  • DSP, 4-3/4″x 3-1/2″ (I used retired paper and am eagerly awaiting the new catalog!)
  • Old Olive strip, 3-3/4″x 1-3/4″
  • Image stamped on Basic White with Memento Black and cropped with 2-3/8″ circle die
  • Sentiment stamped on Basic White with Memento Black and cropped with the same circle die
Coloring:
  • Greens ~ Light and Dark Old Olive, Dark Mossy Meadow
  • Reds ~ Real Red and Cherry Cobbler
  • Browns ~ Light and Dark Pecan Pie, Dark Crumb Cake
  • Grays ~ Light Smoky Slate, Light Gray Granite
  • Skin ~ Light and Dark Petal Pink
  • White ~ Wink of Stella
Assembly:
  • Glue the DSP to the Old Olive Layer.
  • Then glue the Olive strip across the middle, leaving the top open to slip the sentiment circle behind. Glue it into place.
  • Now glue the layers to the base.
  • Add the colored Santa image in the center over the Olive strip and sentiment circle.

  1. Love this card, especially because it doesn’t have any fiddly ribbons on it (I’m not a good bow maker). Thank you for sharing, Karen.

    • Thanks, Nel. I’m getting to the point where I prefer flat cards without bows as well. I still like Baker’s Twine though. That’s my favorite kind of “ribbon!”

  2. Chris from Pella

Love this. I saw another couple of projects using this stamp set and decided I now want to order it. I love your coloring though wondering about a touch of blue for his glove or mitten. I have several pieces of that DSP and now have a great reason to use it! What else is fun is how you used the sentiment! This is another great card I want to CASE. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    • Thanks so much, Chris! I used gray on his mitten but it’s such a small area, maybe blue would make it stand out a little more.
