Simple Winter Scene

I tried some new products and embraced some older products to create my card for today. It’s a simple design with a calm, peaceful effect on me. I hope you love this simple winter scene as much as I do!

To get started, I saw this sketch challenge from My Favorite Things, and roughly followed the design idea.

My little grove of pine trees hugs the lower right corner on a background of some surprising designer paper. Surprising, because it’s the back of one of the Penguin Playmates DSP offered in the Sale-a-bration brochure! Beginning tomorrow, you can get this paper free with a qualifying purchase of $50. The trees are from the Cabin Dies, and I cropped them from Garden Green and the new Snowy White Velvet Sheets. The soft texture is wonderful. The dies and Velvet paper will be available to order tomorrow, Aug. 3.

So, that’s the new stuff. The older products I used are the sentiment, from Itty Bitty Christmas (you have that, right?!!!) and the cute tiny iridescent snowflakes from last year. Since the snowflakes are iridescent, I decided to give the sentiment some sparkle, too. I stamped it once with Garden Green, a second time with Versamark (thank you, Mr. Stamparatus) and heat embossed it with an iridescent sparkle embossing powder.
