Reverse Easel Card (with Gathering Together)

Last week, Jeanie Stark challenged us with a Mystery Stampin’ post that turned out to be a “Reverse Easel Card.” This fun fold was easy and lots of fun to make. I used Gathering Together DSP. When you take it out of the envelope, it almost looks like any regular card.

When you open it, there is a surprise ~ it creates an easel that stands up on its own with the help of a “stopper.” My stopper happens to be a die-cut double leaf!

You can get all of the measurements and directions to make this card by clicking HERE. There are lots of other design choices too, to give you plenty of inspiration.

My Design Choices:

To make my focal piece, I hand-cut four of the leaves and a mushroom from the DSP and arranged them on the Basic White panel after heat embossing a gold “Thank You” from Label Me Grateful. I also splattered a bit of Pecan Pie Blends ink over it. This can be done by flicking the brush tip against its cap. Be careful though, it tends to go everywhere!

For the stopper, I die cut three of this double-leaf die from Label Me Grateful Dies, one with Cajun Craze, one with Gold Foil, and one with Espresso. I layered and glued them together, separating the gold and Cajun slightly so the gold would peek through. Adhere it with Dimensionals to hold the opened card in the easel position.

I hope you’ll try it! Have fun with any DSP you have.

  1. Very pretty. Bernie was playing with me and got totally out of control. He missed the ball and I caught a tooth on my wrist where he got me last week. Once I cleaned it and got the site bandaged up I grabbed him and put him in his crate. I actually found the rest of the parts to the treat boxes kit and settled in and finished 20 more. Plus a birthday and a get well card. Wow, it felt so good to actually get some things made! No way could I try this card but I have Jeanie’s directions so I can try this cool card another time. This is so pretty. I love the “stopper” leaves.

  2. TFS! a beautiful card but not easy to make. I’ll try it but not now because I have to go to the hospital to morrow.

    • Therese, I think once you try it you will find that it is easy to make! Let me know how it turns out once you’ve tried it.
