Happy Friday, Everyone!
I’m really into purple right now. It hasn’t always been so, but with the introduction of Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather by Stampin’ Up!, it seems like I’m reaching for them more and more. Take this cake card for example ~
The cake image itself is stunning, but surround it with purple windows and WOW! The stamp set I used is Piece of Cake, new this Spring in the Occasions 2019 Catalog. It bundles with the Cake Builder Punch, but due to excessive demand, the punch is currently unorderable. They will be getting more, hopefully mid-March, so watch for its return. I’ve been given the inside scoop that this punch will also be in the next Annual Catalog. Yay! But honestly – I cut this one out by hand and it cuts pretty easily. The punch will make it go a lot faster, but meanwhile, scissors are your friend!
Such a fun set! I’ll have it linked below if you want to buy it.
To make my card, I started with Thick Whisper White cardstock and placed the frames down without gluing to check my spacing. A tiny pencil line gave me the boundaries in which to sponge over the polka-dot mask with Smoky Slate ink.
Then I glued the frames down. These are not Stampin’ Up!, but if you have the Stitched Rectangle Framelit Dies, it will have the same effect.
Next I colored the cake with my Blends: Smoky Slate, Highland Heather, and Balmy Blue. I cut it out with my Paper Snips.
I stamped the candles in the middle of the white area, colored them, then glued the cake down with the candles centered on the top tier.
A Happy Birthday banner and three grape Enamel Dots finish it off. Oh, and I covered the envelope flap with Gorgeous Grape DSP. One more finishing touch…Wink of Stella on the flowers and the candle flames.
Now I want to eat cake…
Have a great weekend!

Love the monochromatic use of the purples. Just a happy, happy card. It really brightened up the gray weather today!
Hmmm, to be honest I don’t like purple, but this card looks perfect. I love the polka-dots so much. Your cake looks delicious.
