Partial Die-Cutting with the Clubhouse Bundle

Today I tried a new technique – partial die-cutting – with the Clubhouse stamp + die bundle. Check out the end result, then I’ll tell you about it.

I used my Layering Circle Die and Clubhouse Die together to create a one piece die-cut focal point on my card. I don’t think I can explain adequately how to do it, so I’ll send you to Jennifer McGuire’s blog where I learned from her! It was fun to try, and I know with practice I will get better.

The black & white patterned paper in the background is from Come Sail Away DSP. I cut it out with a Stitched Rectangle Die. The golfer is popped up over another stitched rectangle that I embossed with the Argyle Embossing Folder.

For the golfer’s clothes, I colored with a medium that hasn’t seen the light of day in eons – my Watercolor Pencils! I scribbled in a bit of color, then smoothed it all out with my Blender Pen. I am so happy with the way it turned out on this stamped image. The shading in the stamp itself gives the look of blended areas, but I didn’t do anything except straight coloring.

For the yellow circle, I pounced Crushed Curry onto the circle with a Stampin’ Sponge. Is he hitting a giant yellow golf ball? Or is he hitting into the sun? Ha, I don’t know – you decide!

Like I mentioned in my last post, I have a lot of golfing friends, so this card will be used very soon! I had fun trying some new (and old) techniques. It’s good to stretch ourselves 🙂
