Paradise Palms Sunrise (CCMC764)

This is color challenge week at Create With Connie & Mary! Our colors to work with are Petal Pink, Balmy Blue, and Gold. My mind went to a sunrise at the beach. So I pulled out Paradise Palms to create a scene. Here is our color palette:

And here is my Paradise Palms sunrise at the beach:

paradise palms, color challenge, CCMC764, ink blending, heat embossing, stampin up, karen hallam

I love how the sky turned out! It totally captures the morning sky at pre-dawn. I began by brushing Petal Pink to the bottom portion of the 4-5/8″x 3-1/2″ piece of Basic White Cardstock. Then I started at the top and brushed Balmy Blue, bringing it down to blend with the pink. I used Blending Brushes for this technique.

Stamping Details:
  • I started in the lower left corner with the hill stamp from Paradise Palms with Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • Next I stamped the grass over the hill also with black.
  • Then I stamped the palms, again with black.
  • For the sentiment, I stamped it with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
Layering Details:
  • First I mounted the art piece to a panel of Gold Foil, approx. 4-7/8″x 3-5/8″.
  • I glued that to a panel of Basic Black, 5″x 3-3/4″.
  • Using Dimensionals, I adhered the black to the card base, Balmy Blue Cardstock, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″.

The final detail is three gold Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

This is a very simple, minimalist card, but I feel like I’m sitting on the beach in Hawaii at dawn, looking up at the morning sky. What a lovely feeling! ☀️🌴☺️
