Welcome to our Pals Blog Hop, May 2018. This month we’ll be “Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques.” What’s that? Projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. Who knows, maybe both! Join us in the fun while the we inspire you to step up your creations.
You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I’m excited to share a technique with you that is new to me! I’m calling it the Stacking Dies Technique and I learned this technique from Jennifer McGuire.
To get this look, you will need the Layering Squares Framelits Dies, a Big Shot or other die cutting machine, and cardstock in Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron (available June 1), Whisper White, and Rich Razzleberry.
Place the scalloped square dies on the first piece of cardstock, stacking them and cutting them out all at once. You will do this three times with your three colors (not the white.) Take the squares apart and arrange them in the color order that is pleasing to you. This next photo shows you a different arrangement I made with left over pieces from the first design.
Turn your arranged squares over and place tape all over the back to hold them together.
Cut the square into fourths diagonally and arrange them onto a 3-3/8″ square of Whisper White. Place the corners of your triangles into the corners of the white square, overlapping the ends as shown ~
Crop the word “congrats” from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits dies three times using Basic Black cardstock. Stack them and glue them together to give the word some awesome dimension, then glue it to the card front.
Adhere the Whisper White square to a 4″ square of Mint Macaron with Dimensionals. Glue this to a 4-1/4″ square card base of Tranquil Tide.
This card is going to my daughter who just finished her coursework for a physical therapy doctorate! She is amazing and I’m so proud of her!
I hope you have enjoyed this technique and will give it a try. All of the supplies that I used will be listed in the Product List at the bottom of this post. The pictures are linked to my online store and I would be very grateful if you choose to shop with me!
