One more for Mother’s Day

one more for mother's day, sweet soiree dsp, mother's day card, a mother's flair, sweet soiree embellishment kit, dry embossing, pearl doilies, stampin up, karen hallam, stampin up

I have one more card for Mother’s Day, in case anyone is still looking for an idea. This is very similar to one I posted last week (see it HERE) but with a few important changes.

I cut and scored this Marina Mist card stock base to be a side fold, opening like a book. I did it that way so I was able to emboss the top right corner of the card with the gorgeous new Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This new folder is available during the month of May in one of our Share What You Love bundles, and it will also be in the new Annual Catalog on June 1, 2018.

Next, I cut a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Marina Mist Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP, then cut it into two triangles on the diagonal from left corner to right. I glued one piece onto the card front.

The sentiment is from A Mother’s Flair stamp set, stamped with Marina Mist ink onto Whisper White card stock and cropped with a Layering Circles Framelit Die. I glued it to one of our new Pearlized Doilies (available now in a Share What You Love bundle or in June with the new catalog- so pretty!) And I adhered it to the card.

The last step on the front includes a vellum cutout from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit. I colored the flowers and leaves on the back of the vellum. I was pleased at how easy this was and how good it looks on the front! I used Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

On the inside, I stamped a Mother’s Day sentiment in Marina Mist and the purse from A Mother’s Flair in Old Olive, and colored the flowers and leaves with Stampin’ Write Markers.

Observations:  The new Pearlized Doilies look great with the silver foil on the Sweet Soiree DSP. The printed vellum was very easy to color on the back with markers. The Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP and the Embellishment Kit are on the Retiring List, but have not yet sold out, so get some now if you love it as much as I do!

This card is beautiful. I love your designs. Thank you for the instructions. Lorna

  3. Hi Karen, What a lovely, beautiful card. I adore the colors and the DSP. Marina Mist was the first color I bought as a SU customer over six years ago. I’m sad to see it go. I think I’ll have to make a few of these cards, with a birthday greeting. I love your “observations” section. Just a little extra of “good to know” tips.
    🙂

    • Thanks, Nancy! I appreciate your input! I love this color too. I wonder if Balmy Blue will be a good substitute?
