Pals’ Blog Hop: Cute Critters!

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Cute Critters” – showcasing their card/project with adorable animals, birds, or insects for any occasion. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

For my critter card, I picked the Kangaroo & Company Stamp Set and Dies Bundle. Are they not the sweetest images you’ve ever seen? The extra images and sentiments in the set make it super versatile — for baby, birthday, Valentine’s Day, thank you, Mother’s Day, or just a “Hi!”

Card Details
  • Thick Basic White card base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
  • Shaded Spruce layer, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Mint Macaron DSP layer, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
  • Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest of the scalloped rectangle dies in Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Mama Kangaroo is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black in the center of the scalloped rectangle, then cropped out with the matching die. Crop another Mama K. out of craft foam or an Adhesive Foam Sheet.
  • Stamp and crop Baby Kangaroo and the flower bunch with Memento. Color all three pieces with Blends.
  • Glue Mama K. to the matching craft foam sheet and let dry thoroughly.
  • Stamp grass with Shaded Spruce ink, three hearts and the sentiment with Memento. Color the hearts with Blends.

Assemble
  • Glue the green layers down to the front of the card base.
  • Glue the scalloped rectangle in the center of the card.
  • Apply liquid glue and snuggle Mama Kangaroo into the cut opening of her shape in the scalloped rectangle.
  • Gently pull open her pouch and put Baby K. into the slit. Add a Glue Dot behind his head to secure.
  • Add the flowers to the lower right. Adhere pearls to the flowers.
  • Finish with a white Baker’s Twine bow.

Here is a look at the side. You can see the depth of the craft foam under the kangaroos.

So sweet! To achieve the textured look on her fur, squiggle a Color Lifter Blend Marker over her after coloring with the browns. Add a colorful envelope with a piece of Flowers For Every Season DSP to the back flap.
