Welcome to the Pals August, 2018 Blog Hop. We love to cut it out so this month our creations feature our favorite “cuts” using punches, Framelits and Thinlits from the current Stampin’ Up! catalog.
You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
Yes, I may have gone “a little wild” on this card! I think I took the challenge to heart and cut a LOT out! But because it is a special card for a very special friend who is having her first baby, I loved creating this for her. Here is the invitation that inspired my card ~
I know she will see the connection immediately, and I was pretty jazzed to see the invite and know that I had cute stamps and framelits to make it.
I won’t bore you with all the tiny details, but I will give you a list of the items that I used. It’s a long list, but in case you would like to know…
Thick Whisper White card base, a layer of Smoky Slate cut to 5″ x 3-3/4″, then a top layer of Powder Pink DSP.
I began the elephant from A Little Wild Stamp Set by stamping him onto Watercolor Paper with a StazOn Black Ink. Then to color her, I used the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil on Watercolor Paper, then went over it with my Aqua Painter. I was thrilled that it came out mottled, like real elephant skin! Then I cropped it out using the Little Loves Framelit Dies. I colored two elephants and cut the head off the second one and attached it with Dimensionals. The inside of the ears are more of the Powder Pink DSP on the polka-dot side.
For the flowers, I used Calypso Coral and Powder Pink inks on Whisper White cardstock. Leaves were cut from Granny Apple Green and Tranquil Tide cardstock. The stamp sets I used were: A Little Wild, Bouquet Blooms, Enjoy Life, and Sunshine Sayings.
The Framelit and Thinlit dies that I used were: Little Loves, Petals & More, Bouquet Bunch, Sweet Cake, and Gatefold Blossoms.
On the inside you see the back side of the elephant! So cute! I stamped and cut her back side twice as well, and cut her bottom/back legs out to pop them up with Dimensionals.
Then there is the envelope ~
I hope you enjoyed my “Cut It Out!” card! It’s really fun to take someone’s invitation and run with it. If you scroll down to the bottom of my post, after you browse through all the Blog Hop cards, you will see the links to my online store.
