Sometimes the most surprising color combinations actually work quite well together! For example, I would most likely never have put Terracotta Tile together with Seaside Spray, but Stampin’ Up! did. And look how pretty they are together in Woven Threads DSP!
Paired with Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set and the new matching Seaside Spray Scalloped Linen Ribbon, this paper works so well!
I found an embossing folder in my collection from “yesteryear” called Lacy Brocade. Anyone else still have it? As I looked at the design in the DSP, it came to mind, so I thought I’d put it together. I like the look! The lacy edging around the sentiment circle and the bow are from the retired Doily Thinlits, another great find. If you want a sleeker, more modern look, you will like the card I’ve included down below.
But one detail that is from the new catalog that you can’t really see until you look closely is the Terracotta Tile Faceted Dot. Love these embellishments for a touch of sparkle!
One other detail: I cut the Scalloped Linen Ribbon in half, lengthwise, and glued it behind the DSP. Sometimes you want the linen look, but I thought it was better hidden behind for this card. The tiny bit of scalloped ribbon poking out is “just enough.”
If vintage isn’t your thing, you may prefer this more modern looking card from the same Woven Threads DSP.
The font and distressed look still reads “vintage” but this design and the elements lean more modern. Which camp are you in? Vintage or modern? I tend to lean more modern, but the right vintage card can knock my socks off!
Here’s another angle.
The “stitch” stamp that I used to mimic the DSP comes from A Big Thank You, found on page 96 of the Annual Catalog.

Here is a photo from Stampin’ Up! that shows the Woven Threads Suite.
Beautiful, right? I can think of many uses for these frames. I have always enjoyed sending photo cards to my friends from years past. They are very personal and very meaningful to both of us!
I titled this post Odd Color Combinations… then I found this room photo in a current Home Decor magazine:

Very nice! That was one paper I think needed to be made into cards etc. to really see the colors, playfulnesss, etc. to really appreciate it. Of course your embossing folder helped and now I gotta look to see if I have it! Both cards are great though.
Lol! Thanks Chris!
Yes, very pretty. Didn’t think I wanted that DSP but now I’m thinking I might need it!
Thanks, Beth! Happy to enable! 🙂
