Mixing Old With New

I am so excited about this new Designer Series Paper called Beauty of the Earth! It will be available tomorrow! I don’t have the rest of the suite yet, but I couldn’t resist making a card with this paper, so I’m mixing old with new today.

In this photo you can see three of the prints from the DSP. The blue cloudy paper, the Espresso woodgrain paper, and the watercolored trees paper are all part of Beauty of the Earth.

Card Basics

To make this simple design, I started with a base of Early Espresso, covered the front with the 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″ woodgrain print. The tree paper measures 2-1/2″x 5-1/4″. The Basic White oval is cut from (retiring) Layering Ovals Dies. It is the 2nd to largest die, layered on the scalloped die of Merry Merlot.

Stamping/Coloring

To the white oval, I colored the tree stamp in (retiring) Rooted in Nature with Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Early Espresso, Merry Merlot, Cinnamon Cider, and Cajun Craze markers to color right on the rubber. Then I spritzed the stamp with water for a watercolor wash look. The sentiment is from Blossoms in Bloom.

Embellishments

These are totally optional, and if the card was for a man, I would leave them off. But I like them! 🙂 I used some of the new Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and three Genial Gems.
