So I wonder if you’re like me? Every time a new catalog comes out, I love all of the new things, but I’m not able to purchase everything at once (not even close!). So I continue to cling to my retired products a bit longer and mix them with the bits of new that I buy. Today’s card is that mix of new + old. I’m guessing there are many of you that want to use your older favorites and mix them in with the new things you buy. Anyone?
I love neutrals and I’m crazy about the new DSP called Abigail Rose. Crumb Cake and white ~ mixed in with my bit of black. So pretty!
Here’s what I used:
- Crumb Cake Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
- Basic Black layer, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
- Abigail Rose DSP, 5″x 3-3/4″
- Basic White for label, cut with (retired) Tasteful Labels Dies
- Crumb Cake Cardstock to layer behind the label, hand cut
- Label embossed with (retired) Greenery Embossing Folder
- Sentiment from (retired) Happiest of Birthdays, stamped in black and heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder
- Linen Thread for bow
- Envelope flap lined with Neutrals 6×6 DSP and a 1/4″ strip of Basic Black
What do you think of my “messy” bow? I tied the Linen thread and it was all curling up on me, so I left the tails long and tied another piece into it to add more fluff. Love me a fluffy twine bow!
If you are following my Greek Adventure, here are some more pictures. We left the busy-ness of Mykonos and Athens and stepped into another world, called…
Aegina Island
Our next destination was Aegina (pronounced egg’-i-nuh) Island. It’s a day trip for Athenians who want to get out of the city for a while, a 40-minute ferry ride. Our purpose for visiting this island was to have some Greek cooking lessons. We spent 4 nights in a beautiful little hotel – Hotel Klonos Anna. Like on Mykonos, we were able to walk to the nearby town to get anything we needed. But unlike Mykonos, this island is not touristy. It’s more local + a respite for busy Athenians. Again, we fell in love with the island and the people!
Saying “goodbye” to Athens
and “hello” to Aegina!
The mix of new + old on Aegina Island takes on a different meaning. For example, the “new” is a monastery established in 1904 by Agios (Saint) Nektarios, while the “old” is the archeological remains of the Temple of Aphaia from 500 BC!
We were given a tour around the island which was largely rural and green, with spectacular views from tops of hills.
Then there were the cooking lessons of authentic Mediterranean cuisine!
The food was delicious – stuffed vegetables, fresh fish, Greek salad, and traditional milk pie for dessert. I do not recommend the Greek coffee, however!
Of course we walked through town, did some shopping, and had some dinner along the waterfront.
One more. We went up to the top of a hill overlooking the ocean for an evening cooking lesson and dinner at our host’s home. While we dined on her patio, we watched the most beautiful sunset!
God’s handiwork at its finest!
Have a spectacular day,
