Let’s Celebrate Rustic Birthday Card

This is a very different style for me! But I had fun roughing it up a bit. I ended up with kind of an old-tyme, rustic birthday card. You’ll have to tell me what you think! I used the Let’s Celebrate Embossing Folder so I am calling it my Let’s Celebrate Rustic Birthday Card!

Does it look like someone found it in an old steamer trunk from the 1800’s?! 🙂  My husband would call it “Western!” If you like this look, here are the…

Directions:
  • Cut a base card from Crumb Cake, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4″.
  • Glue down a Basic White layer, 5″x 3-3/4″, with the edges scuffed up.
  • Next, cut a Soft Suede layer, 4-3/4″x 3-1/2″, edges scuffed up and set aside.
  • Then cut a Crumb Cake layer, 4-1/2″x 3-1/4″. Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Let’s Celebrate Embossing Folder (Birthday). Lightly run your Crumb Cake ink pad across the top of the embossing to make the embossing stand out. It’s OK if you get a little ink on the flat places. That gives it the rustic look. Scuff up the edges.
  • Glue the embossed Crumb Cake piece to the Soft Suede piece, then wrap some Linen Thread around it like a gift. Tie a knot, then wrap some loops around your fingers and tie it with the thread ends to make a bow. Secure underneath with a Glue Dot.
  • Add three Rustic Metallic Dots.
A Couple of Details:

I positioned the embossing folder so the Happy Birthday was in the center. I originally thought I would add a label to the front, but since the words are already there, I decided to leave it without.

To scuff the edges, I ran each edge back and forth across a counter top corner. It’s strangely satisfying!!! haha!

Give it a try and let me know what you think! Have fun!
