I have a very sparkly birthday present card today ~
The photo doesn’t give the glitter justice. When the light hits it, it really dazzles! I mixed new with older products to pull this card together.
To begin with, I cut four 7/8″ x 5-1/4″ strips of Whisper White cardstock, then ran them through the Big Shot with the flower embossing folder from Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I spaced them evenly across the Coastal Cabana card base front and glued them down. Tip: Glue the outside right and left strips first, then space the two inside strips evenly and glue them down. Sometimes I find it helpful to use a little removable adhesive on the backs of each piece to hold them in place while I permanently glue one down at a time.
To make the “gift,” I took the largest of the Layering Squares Framelits, straight edge and scalloped, and the second largest straight edged one. The scalloped one is from Silver Glimmer Paper, the center layer from Coastal Cabana, and the top layer from Whisper White.
I stamped “Happy” from the upcoming Merry Christmas To All (available Sept. 5) and “Birthday” from Lemon Zest. For the ink color, I used Bermuda Bay. I love the pairing of Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay! They look like the same color with Bermuda being a few shades darker. And they both sound beachy! Do you think Stampin’ Up! did that on purpose? I bet they did! 🙂
That lavish bow on top of the gift is from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. I cut two – one from Silver Glimmer Paper and one from Bermuda Bay. A touch more sparkle, please? Three rhinestones, thank you!
The inside balloons are from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and the sentiment is from (retired) Balloon Adventures. I had fun putting all of the elements on this card! To connect the envelope design with the card, I glued a 1/4″ strip of Bermuda Bay down at the fold. Then I butted a 2″x 6″ piece of Coastal Cabana DSP from the Brights 6″ x 6″ collection up to the strip to cover the envelope flap.

Aren’t you smart to see the bow in the “sunshine wishes” dies. Love the card.
Love thus card. Simple but very festive!
What a great use of a die intended for something quite different. It just reminds us that you have to look at things more than one way. Beautiful design!!!
brilliant use of the Sunshine Wishes dies!
Thanks, Mary!
Super cute and sparkly Karen! A class project??
Might be able to work that out! 🙂
Oh Karen, I love it. Love the silver with the BB. Just enough glitter.
🙂
I sat up and took notice at the word “happy” as it looked so special. Love it. The color combination is fun but it would also be festive in red or green for Christmas. Inside could be stars or something else for the holidays. Glittery snowflakes?
Yes! All great ideas for a Christmas card, Chris! I will definitely make one! Thanks!
Great alternate use of the flower die. Balloons on the inside are a nice touch.
Thanks, Deb! You know how things happen accidentally sometimes? The flower die did that!!!
SLAM DUNK! WOW!!!! This is just stunning and the design/layout is FAB-O!!!
Thanks, Susan!
