Dashing Deer Brings JOY!

Happy Monday to you! I’m bringing you a Christmas card early in the week. As we get closer to the Holidays, they will be coming more frequently. But I had another reason to post this today…the Festive Friday challenge is “Stripes” this week!

I found this festive Cherry Cobbler/Whisper White striped print in…you guessed it! Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. It was meant to be, don’t you think? Go to Festive Friday #0018 to see all of the creations and join in on the fun, if you’d like! Here is their banner:

I layered the DSP (3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″) to a piece of Basic Black. Then I took one of the Cherry Cobbler plaids from the same DSP pack, 2-3/8″ x 3-1/2″, and layered it onto a piece of Silver Foil.

A Whisper White Stitched Shape oval houses the word “JOY” and this is a fun tip I learned from Su Mohr this morning. Cut the word “YOU” from Celebrate You Thinlits, upside down, then trim off part of the “U” – and you have “JOY!” Isn’t that cool? Su is such a clever gal!!!

I cut one of the deer from Detailed Deer Thinlits out of Basic Black for a silhouette look, then cut two solid flowers and three open flowers from the same piece of black. One Silver Foil open flower becomes a collar for the deer, and three tiny rhinestones add just a touch more bling.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from Timeless Tidings, to continue the Joy theme, with a couple more flowers.

This was quite the accidental card! I started off going in a very different direction, but the paper and thinlits just kind of pulled me this way. And I love the way it turned out! What do you think?

I have so many stamp sets that I want to play with! So I guess you’ll have to come back Wednesday to see what I come up with next! I can’t wait to see what it is myself! 🙂

  1. I love the patter party you have going on! And, such a wise idea to leave the deer as a silhouette – it really helps draw the eye to all the right things! Thanks for joining us again at Festive Friday!

  2. Absolutely adorable, Karen! I love the stripes paired with the plaid. The black accents just “pop” right off the card. Thank you for sharing at Festive Friday this week!

Love layers! These work well. I had to look again for the silver as I missed it. Thanks for sharing Su’s tip as I was wondering how did you do that!?! Fun card and I might have to try those two patterns with the black and maybe a snowman or something just as fun though I do have the deer. Maybe snowflakes instead of the flower looking pieces. I splurged and bought the snowflake trinkets that are part of the snowflake special.

  4. Love the stripes! I like all the layers too, and the silver is perfect.
