Hi there! It’s our last Thursday Challenge for February. I can’t believe how fast time is going! Today is a color challenge at Create With Connie & Mary. We get to play with Poppy Parade, Bumblebee, and Night of Navy.
If you are a Designer Series Paper fan like I am, your mind will go right to the Hey Sports Fan! DSP. These three colors plus Evening Evergreen are the colors in the paper. You may remember my very first challenge card HERE was made with this DSP. When I pulled it out, the red & vanilla stripes reminded me of a flag, so this is what I came up with ~
This celebration card will work for many different occasions, including patriotic holidays!
Card Details:
- Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock base, 5-1/2″x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″ for a top-fold card
- Night of Navy Cardstock, 2-1/4″x 4-1/4″
- Hey Sports Fan DSP, Poppy Parade and Very Vanilla stripe, 3-1/4″x 4-1/4″
- Hey Sports Fan DSP, Bumblebee/Vanilla stars, 5/16″x 4-1/4″
- Bumblebee Cardstock, 2″x 4-1/4″ for Stitched Stars Die
- Very Vanilla Cardstock, 2″x 2-1/2″ for Stitched So Sweetly Die
- Hey Sports Fan Twine
- Resin Stars
- Happy & Heartfelt Stamp Set and Night of Navy ink
Some of the stars that came out of the big die cut piece provided me with instant embellishments! I added three Bumblebee Resin Stars to the Navy strip as well.
There are so many things we can celebrate! What are you celebrating today?
Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to hop over to Create With Connie & Mary to see what the rest of our Thursday Design Team has made with these colors. See you next week for a sketch challenge!

I love this card, Karen! I often get asked to make cards for veterans who are having milestone birthdays and this card is just perfect. Thank you for sharing with us.
What a beautiful card! With what is going on in Ukraine. This just some it up. I may case this card to send to friends and family to pray for Peace.
Thank you, Cathy. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. And I’ll join you in praying for peace.
Absolutely stunning and your creativity was rocking it! I love it.. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I like this. I may have to CASE this – especially when I do military types of cards from the Honor trips for veterans to Washington DC to our local American Legion members. I had not really thought about that sentiment but it works for lots of occasions. Again, my imagination was not working with those resin stars. Thanks for more ideas!
Thanks, Chris! Of course when I made the card and wrote the post I had no idea that war would be breaking out in Russia/Ukraine! We aren’t celebrating that!!! But the card definitely is a nod to the patriotic. I hope you use it!
Beautiful card Karen!! I think many will case this. Thank you!
Thanks, Sue! I hope so! 🙂
