Hello! It’s Karen on the West Coast with Rosanne on the East Coast and our February edition of CASEing Coast to Coast! This month, Rosanne picked the theme of Clean & Simple for CC2C. We’ll start off with her gorgeous card ~
Beautiful, isn’t it? You can read all of the details for her card by clicking HERE.
Clean & Simple sounds easy, right? Not so much! My understanding of CAS is that there is a lot of “white” space, no more than two layers, and no embellishments! My card fits those parameters and I’m pleased with the way it turned out. But no embellishments? That was tough. No sequins? No twine bow? LOL, hold me back!! Here is my card ~
Details:
- Starry Sky Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
- Basic White layer, 5-1/4″x 4″ (+one more for the inside)
- Stamps: Scenic Garden, Happiness Abounds
- Ink Pads: Memento Tuxedo Black, Basic Gray, Granite Gray
- Blends: Granite Gray, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Orchid Oasis, and Starry Sky
- Tools: Blending Brush, Masking Paper, Stamparatus
Scenic Garden
This pretty Host stamp set is free during Sale-A-Bration (ends Feb. 28th) with orders equalling $300.
Masking Technique
I stamped the flower pot once onto the Basic White panel, then a 2nd time onto some masking paper. After cutting the masking paper image out, I covered the first stamping with it. With that covered, I stamped the stones. When I removed the masking paper, the pot has the illusion of sitting on the stones. Next I colored the stones, masked the pot again, and brushed some Gray Granite ink over the stones with my Blending Brush.
I went to our Sale-A-Bration DSP, Dainty Flowers, to cover the back flap of my envelope. LOVE ❤️ that DSP! It, too, is free with a $50 purchase of anything in our current catalogs.
Remember that Sale-A-Bration ends Feb. 28. Just a couple more weeks to get those freebies!
When you shop with me and use my host code, you may qualify for my monthly host gift. Spend a total of $75 before tax and shipping throughout the month, and I will send you a pack of the Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins! Click HERE to begin shopping.
Thanks for stopping by today! Rosanne and I love to get your comments on our cards, so please take a minute to say “Hi!”
See you next time,

Wow, both cards are great! I rarely take time to do masking and I need to give it a try more often. Gorgeous colors.
Thanks, Chris! I was inspired by the yellow and purple pansy pots down in New Orleans! Very Mardi Gras! 😉
I love your card! I too didn’t notice the stamp and just passed it by! (Big mistake) I’ve not used the masking technique but this card is so pretty! I may just give this a try!
Masking is fun, Debbie! You can put any object “in front” of another by masking off the object you want in front. Hope you give it a try!
OMG….I love how you used the masking technique with the stones! It looks so realistic! Beautiful coloring and card!
Thanks so much, Jeanie!
Karen, you nailed this CAS card. Your coloring is beautiful and I would have never noticed that wonderful image. But now I wish I had it! Thanks for another terrific CC2C.
Thanks, Rosanne! Thank you for the theme! Looking forward to the next one!
