While the temperatures are soaring out there this July, we could use a little snowy scene to cool us down psychologically, right? TGIF Challenge has given us “Christmas in July” to cool things down a little, and I’m all for that!
TGIFC#221
My card for the challenge is a very clean and simple design. I’ve used one of the die sets that carried over from last year’s catalog called Detailed Deer Thinlits. I cut one of the small deer out with crisp white cardstock, then adhered it inside a Layered Circle die cut hole.
I stamped the bottom portion with a retired sentiment from Peaceful Poinsettia and Memento Black ink. Then I built the little snowy scene behind the deer using some black glitter paper, Sparkle Glimmer Paper, and a variety of My Favorite Things trees and snow hill. I made the moon by punching some Gold Foil with a 1″ Circle Punch, then punching it a second time to create the crescent. Then I glued the whole piece to a Basic Black card base.
See a card that I made last year with this same little deer here.
I love the sparkle of the Glimmer papers! The sparkles in the black look like a million little stars twinkling in the night sky!
Gluing Glimmer Papers
Glimmer/glitter papers don’t glue together very well, so I have a Tip for you. Punch a hole in the Glimmer Paper piece where it will be covered up. Your glue or Dimensional will go in the hole you created onto the cardstock base, to which the top Glimmer layer will stick! Works like a charm!
Does this scene cool you down a bit? I hope so! 🙂 As always, the current Stampin’ Up! products that I used will be listed below and linked to my store. If you would like to purchase any of them, a quick click will take you there. Thank you and I hope you have a safe and cool day!
