Wow, it’s August already. Summer is winding down! And we have a new sketch challenge at Create With Connie & Mary. I chose to feature Butterfly Kisses for CCMC727. Here is the sketch ~
Before I launch into my card(s), I want to share my thought process. I saw that little “pocket” on the sketch and I thought it would be cute to make it a gift card holder. So I went about creating this card with a gift card pocket.
Pretty cute. It’s holding a coffee gift card ~ a great idea for a little thank you gift. BUT ~ when I looked at the sketch again, I realized how far I had strayed from the sketch. So I started over. Let’s look at the sketch again…
Definitely too far off. So I made this second card~ It’s much closer to the sketch so it will be my official entry (but I still like the gift card holder 🙂 )
Details:
- Thick Basic White Cardstock base, 11″x 4-1/4″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
- Night of Navy Cardstock, 5-1/2″x 2-1/2″, textured with Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder
- Butterfly Kisses 6″x 6″ DSP, 5″x 3″
- Night of Navy “pocket”, Timeworn Type 3D Emb. Folder, 2-1/2″x 1-1/2″
- Charming Sentiments Bundle, including sentiment stamped with Night of Navy, 3 candles in Parakeet Party, Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, & Basic White, flames and heart in Daffodil Delight
- Parakeet Party 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon
Definitely Dimension:
- The striped Butterfly Kisses DSP is adhered with Dimensionals.
- The candles are glued to the back of the pocket and the pocket is adhered with Dimensionals.
Final Touch:
- I unravelled the Parakeet Party 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon and tied several strands into a bow. It’s just kind of messy and sparkly and I attached it with a Glue Dot.

Thank you for another great post. I like your first card very much. Your second card showed me what the second page of dies from Charming Sentiments had that I totally missed in both the catalog and the die set! You are tops in my book! Keep ’em coming!
Thanks, Nancy! I certainly hope to “keep ’em coming!”
Yes, I feel the same. You are very creative and I am grateful that you are sharing.
Thank you so much, Lilo! Your comment really encourages me!
I love the gift card pocket idea! When you mentioned it was a coffee gift card I immediately thought of the Nothing Better Than stamp set! I am so inspired by your take on the sketch!
Thanks, Vonna! Yes, Nothing Better Than would be the perfect stamp set for that card!
