Brushed With Beauty (for CSF899)

It’s time for Create with Stamping Friends again. I’m taking a departure from Christmas/Holiday themed cards today for our sketch challenge. Instead, I’m going with the Brushed with Beauty Suite of products.

Here’s our sketch:

And here’s my card:

This card shows off the front and back of one of the beautiful sheets of DSP in this Suite. It also represents both bundles that you get when you purchase the whole Suite.

Here’s my recipe:
  • Mossy Meadow Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Petal Pink Cardstock layer, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Brushed with Beauty DSP, Mossy Meadow side, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
  • Brushed with Beauty DSP, floral side,
  • Mossy Meadow layer, 3-1/2″x 2-3/8″
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock, 3-3/8″x 2-1/4″ for top layer; 2-1/4″x 1″ for label, 2-1/4″x 2″ for flower
    • Stamp the sentiment on the label with Mossy Meadow ink and glue it to the bottom of the Vanilla top layer. Stamp the flower from Petals of Beauty with Basic Beige ink and crop with coordinating die. Stamp the flower center with Early Espresso ink. Crop the open floral piece from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, stamp the center with Early Espresso, and crop with the die. Glue that over the large stamped flower, matching the stamped centers. Add Dimensionals to the back.
  • Mossy Meadow Cardstock for the leaf spray, 3-1/2″x 2″
Put it all together:
  • Layer all of the Cardstock and DSP pieces and glue them down in place.
  • Lightly glue the back of a couple of the leaves and adhere it to the card front.
  • Cut a 4″ length of the Irregular Weave Trim, fold in half and place it over the leaves.
  • Take the backing off the Dimensionals on the flower and adhere it in place, securing the trim under it.
  • Trim the Irregular Weave Trim ends to the length you want.
  • Add Pearls of Beauty to the front as shown.

A couple of surprises when I made this card:

Basic Beige ink, when stamped on Very Vanilla, looks like Soft Sea Foam! That’s why I chose that light green Cardstock color for the top of the flower! And while Petal Pink doesn’t exactly match the background in the floral, it adds just enough color to brighten up the Mossy Meadow. With just 1/16 of it showing around the border, it adds a softening to an otherwise dark background.

I hope you like my card! Ready to see some more ideas created from this sketch? Click HERE to go to Creating with Stamping Friends.
