Birthday Bonanza Toucan

I used the Birthday Bonanza toucan for a colorful birthday card today! My grandson’s 4th birthday is right around the corner and I think this will make him smile!

My design was inspired by the Fab Friday Challenge this week. Here is the banner that jump-started my idea:

I dug deep into my craft closet for this one, as I thought of all the elements I wanted on the card. I started with Stampin’ Up!’s retired embossing folder called Confetti for the big birthday texture. The Birthday Bonanza candle paper is cut with the largest Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The balloons were punched from our Balloon Bouquet Punch and decorated with a stamp from Balloon Celebration, also retired. I cut the strings from Basic Black Cardstock, making them as thin as I could with my cutter. Then I cut 2 tiny slits around the toucan’s beak so he could hold the balloons. He’s got a good grip on them. I don’t think they will fly away!

“Just For You” comes from Rooted in Nature. I stamped it with Coastal Cabana and punched it out with a 3/4″ Circle Punch.

On the inside, another retired set, Better Together, sings the birthday greeting. The surrounding stars are from Balloon Celebration.

So much fun. I never would have thought about using the candles paper the way you did. Who wouldn’t get a little chuckle out of this cutie.
