Back to Good Morning Magnolia

Good Morning! I hope you all had a beautiful Easter weekend and were able to celebrate in unique ways in your own home.

I realized that it has been a long time since I’ve pulled out my Good Morning Magnolia set. So, I thought I would revisit these beautiful stamps and paper to create some cards for shut-in elderly friends of mine. With Covid-19 on the front of everyone’s mind and our attempts to shelter in place, I can only imagine how lonely it must be for those in residential care facilities. So today I have a couple of cards that I want to share before I put them in the mail. Let’s go back to Good Morning Magnolia!

Card #1

Good Morning Magnolia bundle, Varied Vases, Magnolia Lane DSP, hello card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam

This one uses both the large magnolia stamp, colored with Blends, and the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. First I stamped the magnolia onto Whisper White Cardstock with Early Espresso ink. Then I cut it out with the matching die before coloring it with Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink, Soft Suede, and So Saffron Blends. Here’s a look at the Bundle that you can purchase at a 10% discount for a couple more months.

The card itself is simple layering. I used Early Espresso for the base, Whisper White for the next layer, and the Espresso DSP from Magnolia Lane for the top layer. Then I took the striped sheet from the same DSP and cut two strips to add a bit of color to the bottom.

I stamped “Hello” (Varied Vases, page 60 in Annual Catalog) using Mossy Meadow ink directly to the white stripe in the DSP.

Last steps were attaching the flower to the card with Dimensionals and adding a bow with Old Olive Linen Thread, part of the Magnolia Combo Ribbon Pack.

Card #2

Good Morning Magnolia bundle, Neutrals 6 x 6 DSP stack, hello card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam

On this second card, I colored the magnolia with just a whisper of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Blends. Tiny, light-handed flicks of color will create a very soft subtle look. This “Hello” is from Good Morning Magnolia. The strips of DSP added to the top and bottom are from the Neutrals 6″x 6″ DSP Stack. The bow is Linen Thread.

On the inside, I stamped and colored the small flower using the same Blends. The beautiful “Thinking of You” stamp in the set that is perfect for such a time as this.

It really has been a long time since I used this set. Looking back at my posts, I see it was July 2019! Click HERE to see that card. It was fun to pull it out and play with it again! What sets have you stashed away that could use some lovin’ again?

  1. Very petty. A good reminder to get my set out again too!

  2. Love this set too! THanks for the reminder to pull it out and create! Love how you used that large stamp! Hope you had a nice Easter too! Very different this year!

  3. Beautiful card Karen, I really like where you placed the sentiment.

  4. Chris from Pella

Stunning! I was looking through the Annual Catalog yesterday and was trying to decide if I finally need this set. I have the smaller set but that big flower is so much to color. I think it is sort of ironic that the Mongolia trees here are blooming but yet the mini catalog was full of the poppies. I always seem to be late being on trend. So, I bet I end up ordering at least the stamp set. Your coloring is beautiful. Thanks for a reminder to enjoy this set.

    • Thanks, Chris! The coloring looks way more than it actually is. I was able to do it pretty quickly with the Blends. And you might want to re-think getting the bundle because it is so nice to quickly cut out that large flower image. Plus you get the smaller die to cut from the DSP. I’m very glad I bought both stamps and dies! Save 10% now while you can because soon it will be full price to get both. (My advice, for what it’s worth, lol!)

  5. These cards are sure to brighten someone’s day, Karen. Your coloring on each of the Magnolias is so pretty. Have a good Monday!
