Beauty Abounds Spotlight Card

Beauty Abounds on this card… and in my beautiful friend, Carolyn. She will be receiving this card soon. If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ve heard me speak of Carolyn. She is my amazing 93 year old friend, who up until recently was leading worship in our Community Bible Study group. Her health has taken a turn for the worse and she is now living in an assisting living home. But her beauty abounds wherever she is.  I’m certain she is blessing the other residents with her sunny disposition and love for the Lord. I made this card for her.

I “borrowed” (aka cased) this layout from Linda Heller. She made a card using a new stamp set that will be coming out on June 4, 2019. Since I don’t have any of the new products yet, I am using what I have to create a spotlighting technique card similar to what she used on hers.

As you can see, you can use any framelit for this technique. I like the look of the stitching, so I picked the retired Stitched Seasons Framelits. Once I cut it out of the center of the Thick Whisper White cardstock, I put all of it into my Stamparatus and stamped my oversized image. Beauty Abounds worked nicely with just a little bit of the image overlapping the cut lines.

Color with Blends

I used Light and Dark Calypso Coral, Light and Dark Old Olive, Dark Petal Pink, and Light Soft Sea Foam.  Here is a different angle to show the center piece:

Once you’ve glued all but the center piece down, pop it up on two layers of Dimensionals for a “spotlighting” effect. The black paper below it will be just a shadow when the card is tilted.

I chose Forever Lovely for the inside sentiment and Amazing Life for the flower image that I colored with the same Blends.

Then to add a little bit of shine, I added three Grapefruit Grove Enamel Dots and a touch of Black Glaze pen on the flower centers and butterflies.

This stamp set comes bundled with Butterfly Beauty Thinlits (and 10% savings) through June 3rd. See a card I made using one of those thinlits HERE.
