Autumn Leaves (for CCMC788)

Welcome back to Create With Connie & Mary! We have a color challenge today, which had me a little stumped, I have to admit! But when I finally came around to the thought of using Autumn Leaves, it all pulled together.

I pulled out of my memory bank a technique I’ve used with leaves in the past — the baby wipe technique. Do you remember it? I dropped a few drops of the three colors onto a folded baby wipe and smooshed my stamp into the wipe. It didn’t pick up a lot of color, but just enough to give the look I was aiming for.

After stamping it onto Very Vanilla Cardstock, I cropped it with the matching die. Then I cropped another leaf from the same die out of Calypso Coral to add a bit more color.

Leaf Fall Embossing Folder seemed appropriate, so my 5″x 3-3/4″ piece of Mossy Meadow went through the embossing machine. To that I added a Very Vanilla mat, 1/8″ larger than the embossed green, then glued it to a Mossy Meadow base.

The veins are out of Wild Wheat, and I made a bow from one strand of Wild Wheat Jute Trim. My sentiment is stamped with Mossy Meadow onto Very Vanilla and cropped with a die from Autumn Leaves.

The baby wipe technique is fun! The images get lighter the more you use the wipe, so you can get variation of color.
