A Relaxing Scene for Rod’s Birthday

Sunday was my husband’s birthday. Does anything say “relaxing” like Adirondack chairs by the water? We have a couple of these by our pool, so this card was a little piece of our backyard, Dogwoods and all!

I started with a top fold, thick Whisper White cardstock base. After cutting a piece of Soft Sky to 5-1/4″ x 4″, I ran the bottom portion through the Big Shot using the Seaside Embossing Folder. I added a strip of retired DSP to sit the chairs on.

Those Adirondack chairs are made with Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. I adhered them to the “ground” with Mini Dimensionals, but even the minis weren’t quite small enough. I had to cut them in half!

We have some gorgeous Dogwood trees in our yard and they are at their peek of beautiful right now, so I wanted to add a branch of them to this card. The branch is from Colorful Seasons and I stamped it with Soft Suede. The three blossoms are part of Seasonal Layers Thinlits, and aren’t they spectacular? There is awesome texture to them. Let’s see if I can get a closer shot for you…

Well, you can’t really see the texture. You’ll have to trust me, it’s really nice!

The Happy Birthday! sentiment is from Birthday Banners. I stamped it with Soft Suede and cropped it close to make a skinny banner.

The inside sentiment is also from Colorful Seasons and I thought it appropriate for the occasion! Life IS a beautiful thing and we are enjoying ourselves in this season!

I forgot to mention the cool drink! I stamped the image with Flirty Flamingo, then colored over the straw with a Black Stampin’ Write Marker. It comes with its own framelit die! The flowers on the inside are also Flirty Flamingo to tie in with the front.

These stamps and thinlits will be available in the new 2018-19 Annual Catalog, BUT they will not be offered as a bundle. That is something to think about when you are deciding on what you should get now and what can wait for later. By buying it in a bundle now, you save 10%.
